Ascent Trip Report

We hiked Blue Mountain after hiking Snowy Mountain. We left the car at 2:40PM. The first half mile or so is fairly easy going. Then the trail goes up. There are no switchbacks or rock scrambles on this trail. Being that it is so popular, much of the trail is worn down to the bedrock, almost like a vertical sidewalk. We reached the summit at 3:58PM. We went up in the fire tower and had great views of the sun nearing sunset over nearby Blue Mountain Lake. We snapped a few photos and headed down at 4:13PM. Part of the way down is a small clearing where you can see Blue Mountain Lake, we arrived at this spot just as sun was setting. The sunset and snow on the ground made some incredible view, one like a burning bush. We donned our headlamps and made it quickly down to the car in the dark. We arrived back at the car at 5:25PM.
