Ascent Trip Report Arrived a full PA on Rt47 at 930am but squeezed in. Prepared to leave I encountered Mt, Y'la & N'ta who asked if I was with the group. I was not. I learned that they were planning to do Fir & BigIndian but they got lost and missed their group. I told them they could join me as i was planning to do Fir by bushwhack up from the leanto. They agreed to join but were also keen on doing B.I. but I was not. I told them I would either part with them on the summit or go with them depending on the time. I had already done B.I so it didnt matter for me to do it again. We made good time to the leanto and crossed the brook and continued a short way past then I took a bearing. Plan was to hike the ridge to the top of Fir. We stayed on course most of the way through mostly open forest on moderate grade. Occasionally we crossed paths with tracks from what looked like a large group. We made the summit by 1230ish and i told them I would accompany them to B.I. Donning microspikes, We bushwhacked across the Catskill divide following now the tracks made by the group ahead almost exclusively, though I was always checking the compass to ensure we stayed on track. Eventually we caught up to a group of 10 which happened to be the group my new friends had missed. We made the summit of B.I. by bushwhack signed the Can, posed for a group photo and descended down to the blue PW trail. Made it back to the car at 430pm. Good hike. Good day.
