Ascent Trip ReportStarted at the Vivian Creek Trailhead parking lot and moved quickly to High Creek at the 6 mile mark. We filled up with filtered water and then left the trail to take the direct ridge route cross country to Little Dobbs peak. After a short break and compass readings we continued via direct route over open ground to Jepson Peak 11,205' and looked down into the bowl below the San G. Summit. With a strict turn around time of 1pm for daylight, we made our way to Dobbs peak. This was my final peak of the 17 10,000 footers in the San G. Wilderness. The cross country way down was a difficult route to the West. We carefully followed a well-marked open country scramble for 2.5 hours to the Vivian Creek trail near the Vivian Creek primitive campground. From there, we make our way back to the cars just before dark at 5:30pm. |
