Ascent of Chesterfield County High Point on 2014-10-22
|Date:||Wednesday, October 22, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Chesterfield County High Point|
| Location:||USA-South Carolina|
| Elevation:||725 ft / 220 m|
Ascent Trip ReportLiDAR indicated and my visit confirmed that the Chesterfield COHP is on a hill at the north end of the southern 720-foot contour. LiDAR measured this hill at 727.943 feet. This hill is visibly higher than Highpoint Baptist Church and the VFD in the northern contour. The view south is obscured by trees but LiDAR saw nothing else within four feet.
This HP is at 34:45:01.149N 80:25:26.929W and is crowned by three trees. Take Highpoint Church Road south from SC9 for 0.2 miles, and just past Jasper Road watch closely on the left for an overgrown driveway leading into the unmaintained field. It's a short but nasty 200-yard-walk to the top. Don't try it in shorts.
