2030? Camp in basin, 6100ft
Went to sleep to clear skies, awoke in a cloud. Due to this and learning that Fernow required losing 1000ft elevation gain (effective extra 2000ft gain), we decided to climb 7FJ instead.
0830 Leave camp
We took what appeared to be the "promient gully", with a water running. This was loose and wet and pretty rough, harder than class 2. Just 50-100ft southeast of that is much easier/safer way -- vegetated and often stll in a shallow gully/depression.
To gain the SW ridge, we skirted the coulouir that is presumably snow-covered to the left. Not really a ramp, but some loose class 3-ish scrambling got to the ridge. From there it wasn't too bad, although a bit loose and a bit steeper near the top. Some snow at the top, but that actually helped combat the loose rock a bit.
1230-1300 Summit. Windy and cold, with occasional sun. No views at all to the east, limited / occasional views elsewhere.
1510-1550 Back at camp. Weather turned warm and clear.
1800-1820 TH. Didn't see anyone else from trailhead to trailhead.
