Ascent Trip ReportThe trail is very overgrown and brushy, but just passable due to some recent clearing work on the lower slopes. There was one point we had to crawl under near the top, which we disassembled with bare hands on the way down. Long pants are recommended if you want to avoid numerous scratches on your shins. The brush is recovering after the 2008 fire, signs of which are everywhere.
My car failed to start after the hike, and the trailhead is very remote and far from cell coverage. A very lengthy wait for a tow truck and a very long tow to Salinas followed. |
