Ascent Trip Report

Zanhiser (10056)(1X), Lake (24K)(6X), 10 K (24J)(6X),
Carmen (10066)(1X), 9971’ (1X), Tea Bag (9884)(1X),
Hell for Sure (9920’)(1X)
This was a private hike with George Christiansen, Mariam Khamis, and Zobedia. We did 2 HPS peaks and 5 peakbager peaks. Started at the Fish Creek trailhead, took the two short cuts at the point that the ridge from Lake meets the trail, took off for Zanhiser. It was a short hike up. Found a register that had an number of signatures. It looks like a well used peak. Nice view of Dry Lake. After Zanhisher, took the ridge up to Lake. Initially, some rock challenges, but leveled out and an easy hike to Lake.
From Lake, walked along the ridge (found a few ducks) to 10K. From 10 K, it was a short walk to a bump at 10066’ that had a register. The name on the register was Carmen. Not sure if this is an official peak and if it is on any list. After Carmen, dropped down then up to 9971’ peak. There was an old tea bag can with a register in it. No name on the register. After 9971’, drop down then up to Tea Bag Can Peak. There was a brand new can and a register that only had 4 sign ins since 2011. The register called it Newt’s Peak -9884’. We are pretty sure the official name is the peakbagers name of Tea Bag Can.
From there it was again down then up to Hell for Sure. There we found a register that dated back to 1968. It had some great signatures – Bill Russell, RS Fink 4-5 times, Awakie and his wife. George took a bunch of pictures of these name and will send them to Joe White, the sections Historian. The register had quite a few HPS hikes. It looks at one time they wanted to name it after Joe Boscomb and make it an official HPS hike. For what every reason, it never happened.
From Hell for Sure, went down the a ridge that started just before the peak. It was steep but for the most part easy to neogoiate. We eventually linked up with our in bound route we did in June of 2011.
