Ascent Trip ReportDelamar (21E)(6X), Little Bear (21D)(7X),
Scheduled hike with Pat Arredondo and John Radalj as the co-leaders. Joining us was May Tang, Bruce Craig, George Christiansen and Suzy Hermann. 3 short hikes in the Big Bear area.
Delamar; When driving from Fawnskin on 3N14, 3N12 comes up at 1.8 miles, quicker then I expected. At 1.2 miles a cleared area for parking. PCT starts here. I took an old cat track to the left (didn’t see the one on the right). This was an old road running parallel to the PCT. It was bushy. Took it to a point where it crossed a ridge. Follow this ridge. Once you get on it, the use trail is obvious. Follow it to the peak. Came down the same way, except went all the way to the PCT. In the future, take the road on the right or the PCT to a gully and head up to the ridge.
Little Bear: Parked just across from the Hanna Campground and when straight up to peak. Came down an easier slope ridge to Camp Wittle then walked the road to the cars.
Bertha. When driving up Polique Canyon Road, at 1.5 miles you come to a junction with 2N71. Turn right (not straight) on 2N09. Follow it another ..7 miles to PCT. Room for 2 cars at PCT. Hike the PCT (crossing the road) to B6 where a road leads to the top.
