Ascent Trip Report

This was my first trailless peak. I used my gps and easily navigated to the summit. We got very lucky because there was supposed to be a huge storm that weekend with 90% precipitation for the entire trip but the rain held off until about half way through Saturday. Once it started it was light but since we were under heavy cover most of the time it wasn't bad. Once we reached the Herds Path we zig zagged back & forth across Herberts Brook until reaching the wooded summit marked with a small yellow disc in a tree. From the summit we hiked about 2 miles back before picking a spot off trail to set up camp. During the night the rain picked up but we stayed dry in our bivy sacs with a poncho tied up over our heads. The rain had stopped by the time we got up so the campsite clean up wasn't bad. We hiked back to the Upper Works Parking Lot with minimal breaks and had our usual meal at the Noonmark Diner.
