Ascent Trip ReportStarted from the Main Eagle Trailhead and followed the Main Eagle Trail #1922 to the junction with the unmaintained and steep Bench Canyon Trail #1937. Climbed the latter trail to Arrow Lake, then hiked past the eastern shore of Arrow Lake and made a rising traverse over talus and open slopes to reach the south ridge. Followed the south ridge to the summit enjoying some easy scrambling on the way. Excellent views of the southern Wallowas from the summit on an sunny and calm day. Returned the same route to the trailhead, stopping often to photograph and soak in the beautiful and renewing environment. |
