Ascent Trip ReportStarted from the West Eagle Meadow CG and hiked the West Eagle Trail #1934 past Echo Lake to Traverse Lake. From here I left the trail and hiked around the northern shore of the lake and climbed talus to the base of a north-facing, steep, and snow-covered rock/scree slope leading up to the west ridge of Traverse Lake East Peak. Followed the west ridge up on the south side and traversed south of rock pinnacles higher to reach the double summit pinnacles. My GPS gave identical elevation readings for both summits, but the eastern most summit seemed higher. Descended the same route. It was a beautiful day in the southern Wallowas. |
