Ascent Trip ReportParked at state route 517 and hiked the Appalachian Trail over the fields, turtle pond, river, and railroad tracks. Then we visited the cows before heading up the mountain. After Pinwheel Vista, we hiked a little bit more on the AT until we came across the Livingston South Trail (no blazes, but there is a sign that says "Old AT vista". This trail is mostly unmarked and has not been maintained in several years. On the map it connects with the Old AT next to a river, but it must be a seasonal river because we missed it and hiked about a half-mile past (which was good, because that is where the peak is!). We came back and found the three vertical white dots indicating the Old AT. This trail has not been maintained in a long time. About halfway down the mountain somebody had spray painted the blazes with black paint, making them hard to see. At the bottom, we followed the edge of the field/forest back to the new AT and headed back to our starting point.
