Ascent Trip Report

The road from the Y going to 'Jefferson Summit' (a pass) has deteriorated significantly form Bob Sumner's description. 4wd, high clearance suggested. This is a delightful hike, but exposed if there are forecast thunderstorms. Temp at the trailhead at dawn was 27 degrees. When I arrived at the summit it was in the clouds, and so I missed the great views. I was expecting possible thunderstorms and snow, so quickly dashed back down the hill to the car.

A highlight of the trip was seeing a herd of about 50 Bighorn sheep up close. I won't say where.

This was my final Nevada County High Point! I returned to the Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah to meet my wife and celebrate.
