Ascent Trip ReportI started out early on a Wednesday morning which is great for solitude on such a popular hike. I saw one person ahead of me when I started but quickly passed him and his dog. After that I was alone for hours! The hike to Osceola main peak was a well worn and very steady trail that was perfect for just enjoying the scenery and nature. The views from the summit are absolutely stunning, I was very pleasantly surprised! I hung out longer than intended just to enjoy the view.
After this I headed over to the East peak and came across the somewhat famous chimney, which hiking solo, I decided to avoid and took the detour around. The rest of the hike to the East peak was uneventful and that peak is covered in trees. I followed an unmarked footpath to a small outlook but even here not many views.
On my return trip I passed a few people as it was getting later in the morning and got to enjoy the views from the main summit once more. This time I noticed and logged the benchmark in the stone on the summit, though the benchmark mentioned the tower itself (which is long gone). I haven’t had much time to hike this year so I am glad I took the day to hike these two peaks!
