Ascent Trip Report

Drove to end of Monument Hill Road, staying on road 401, 15.7 miles. Lots of mud holes but in almost all cases can drive around. Had high clearance 4wd which was pretty much required. Rattlesnake Creek road has private property & was not an option according to ranger station in Cody.
Backpacked 2.5 miles over the first hill to meadow/spring area, camping was just ok. Couldn't find flat established spots so found the most level
place in the meadows, very cold night. Next day followed trail to shoulder north of Trout then ridge to summit with some exposed class 2-3 on loose rock but only a short section. 20 miles RT from camp, decided to pack out to the Xterra & camp there rather than another cold night in the meadow. Beautiful area & pleasant though long hike.
