Ascent Trip Report

Back to Thorsmork finally after 8 years! This time, spent three nights at Volcano Huts which gave us 4 days to hike in this magnificent place. Valahnukur is still awesome, though a bit of a tourist mountain, since it can be easily hiked from the Thorsmork hut by anyone who has just a few hours in the park. I was able to confirm with my GPS that the peak coordinates in the PB database are correct.

Hiked about 55 km over 4 days in the park, though only bagged 2 peaks really. But every day there are new discoveries around every corner, the views ever changing. Surely a highlight in my hiking experiences. One of my favorites was the route to Trollakirkja. It was interesting to hear stories of people who had finished the Laugavegur trek or had hiked the Fimmvörðuháls trail from Skogar.
