Ascent Trip Report

From Tukuarika Peak 10988, we took the saddle between the two and made it to the first summit (we dubbed "Fool's Gold Peak") very quickly, and continued on to the next (true) summit in not much more time. Great views...very cool stuff. The Tetons are all laid out before you in stunning array...that Cathedral Group tho! Very chilly and getting dark, so we headed down after Snickers/Lara Bars/baby food the route that Ortenburg/Jackson call "the fastest and best descent route by far": the east ridge couloir. Keep going east from the summit til you hit it. If it looks too steep, its not that. Long ass couloir descent that went forever, but you do cut loads of time and a few miles of trail off...some loose stuff so be careful, but it never gets too steep, so there's that. Hit the creek, cross when appropriate, and find the trail on the other side. I've been looking at this peak for a while, so it was great to stand on the summit...and its almost better to stand in the valley looking up at it, remembering it!
