Ascent of Blacktop Peak on 2014-08-30
|Other People:||Solo Ascent|
Only Party on Mountain
|Date:||Saturday, August 30, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12720 ft / 3877 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFrom Gem lake, I hiked up the trail about 1.6 miles, passing Crest Creek along the way, then went cross country up a meadow to upper Crest Creek. I followed the creek to its end at a lake, then went up to the saddle located east of the summit, then followed the southeast/east ridge to the top. The entire route is class 1 except that the last 600-700 feet is class 2. In addition, I could not locate a summit register. Also, the GPS track and trip stats are from from Gem Lake.
Please see my 08-29-2014 Donohue Peak trip report for additional trip stats and details.
