Ascent Trip Report

We (me, Joe Krovoza, and Brett Moffatt) followed Suttle’s directions to the trailhead, except that we turned a little too early after the second bridge. Interestingly, that mistaken turn perfectly coincided with where the GPS said the trailhead would be. We went a little further, and found the actual trailhead and parking lot with ease. The trailhead sign was clearly marked. The hike up to Lola is very straightforward, a classic Sierra canyon bottom hike, then through Cold Stream Meadow, and then the climb up to Lola itself. The register was easily found, and it was an easy trek down and up to Lola North. From there we cross-countried down (east) to a logging road, which we followed until it switchbacked, and then cross-country down and east some more past the road a couple more times. We then encountered a bit of a cliff, so we proceeded down the road south a little way until we got to a spot where we could cross-country down to the Mt. Lola Trail at Cold Stream Meadow and then back to the trailhead.
