Ascent Trip Report

Spectacular dayhike out of Tuolumne meadows, past Young Lakes up the south slope to the summit. There's a trail pretty much the whole way to the summit, although some stretches over scree are tedious slogs, esp after the last marshy lake, where going up was hell, but coming down was a breeze. Perfect weather at the summit, where we stayed an hour. The summit block is great fun with thrilling exposure!
On the way back we took the saddle east of Ragged peak and then aimed straight south until we hit the trail. This was a very fun and scenic shortcut! Upon reaching it, you have a very gentle descent with a panorama of the cathedral range in front of you. Although steep on the lakes side, this shortcut is highly recommended!
