Ascent Trip Report

Trhere are 4-5 different routes to the summit of Mt Ida, I took the one from Nida Plateau (1412 m).
From Anogia village I followed the road to Nida plateau and parked the car at the 'tavern'. The trail starts just across the road. I followed it briefly to Idaion antron but turned off 5 minutes before the cave (there is a post on the left - it's one of many posts which mark the E4-Paneuropean path to the top, as well as red dots painted on rocks. The path is easy to see, for the first couple of hours you walk steadily upwards but then you have to descend to the Akollita Plateau and finally ascend the rest of the way to the summit which is marked with a small stone chapel and a refuge. A very hot but enjoyable break from the beach!
