Ascent Trip Report

Open access weekend at Davis Mountains reserve by The Nature Conservancy. At the suggestion of a TNC volunteer, I made this traverse a loop by starting at the Road Canyon Rd. gate, hiking up Road Canyon Rd., right on Crest Trail, bushwhack to summit, bushwhack back down to Crest Trail to Bridge Gap and then down Bridge Trail back to the PA. The bushwhack up was a bit of a scramble past two or three rock ledges. Summit had great views including watching hikers on the way up Livermore. After being chased off the summit by ants, the bushwhack down was actually pleasant - no rock ledges, no scrambling, just a little steep. By time I got back to my vehicle, I heard thunder, turned around and saw a massive black cloud right over Livermore!
