Ascent Trip ReportI should have looked at Michael Sullivans GPS tracks before doing this, but I did not. I had hiked a 10 mile loop on the east side of highway 79 with friends from the West Mesa Fire Road trail head. At the end of that hike they agreed to wait on me while I ascended Arrowmakers Ridge. I headed up West Mesa Fire Road to the fire road junction. From there I bee lined towards the summit. Initially all was well, but within a short while I was in lilac and manzanita over my head. Both forearms are bleeding from pushing thru the brush. Since I had others waiting for me I did not take the time to look for a better route. Afterwards John Strauch informed me that he had just been up there with no problems and shared his GPS track with me. It matches Michael Sullivans, so that is the way to go. |
