Ascent Trip Report

My first climb with the Mountaineers as a Basic student, led by the venerable Karl Themer. It was a spectacular experience!

We carried ropes the whole way, but only used them to set a hand line on the steep snow headwall leading to the summit. When we got out the ropes, the snow was firm and worth roping up for. By the time the handline was set up and in use, the snow had softened so steps were easy, and it was no longer really necessary.

So far, this was the 2nd best glissade of my life. (Adams south route is #1)
