Ascent Trip Report

Wretched hot afternoon hike into Eagle Lake, lack of sleep due to a thunderstorm that settled in directly over Needle Point in the middle of the night. Early the next morning I set out directly up the mountain from the dam, and headed north across the high alpine basin just below the NE ridge. Gained the ridge and followed it to the narrow section. Here I dropped down about 20 feet and crossed the gulleys to a point directly below the summit. At that point I was probably 60-100 feet below the summit, once there I climbed straight up which was easier than the crossing. With no desire to repeat the gulley crossing in reverse, I dropped off the west side to Cached Lake and made my way back to Main Eagle.
