Ascent Trip Report

Beautiful hike up Hanging Canyon...the lakes are incredible and Lake of the Crags rates in the top five in the park for me (Delta, Lake Solitude, Trapper, Icefloe). After Lake of the Crags just take the real moderate terrain until you can't...if you aren't at the highest point in the area, you're not there. Awesome drop off, great views of Paintbrush and Cascade canyons, and the backside of Mt St John/Rockchuck is pretty rad...ascent quality after the lakes is not good though. Just moderate, rather loose talus the whole time for a long slog. Took snowfields as much as possible on the way down, for speed and especially due to white-out conditions and freezing rain rolling in quickly.
