Ascent Trip ReportDennis Poulin and I climbed this peak directly after summiting the nearby peak to the NW, which has been labeled "Mexican Mine Peak" by Henry the Mountain Man. The latter is currently ranked #37 on the Non-Sierra California 10,000' Peaks list.
Dennis and I felt that visibly this peak appeared to be slightly higher. This was confirmed using Dennis' Seco Brand levelling tool. I.e. this peak was slightly higher from the "Mexican Mine Peak", and "Mexican Mine Peak" was lower from this peak, as tested with the tool.
The #37 ranked peak on the list should therefore be moved to this peak.
Note I could find no evidence from the topo maps or the Schulman Park center to support the names given to either of this peaks, nor the surrounding peaks ("Inyo Mtns View Pk", "Sierra View Pk", "Schulman Grove Pk", "Cabin Trail HP", "Dolomite Ridge HP", "Methuselah Ridge HP", "Discovery Pk", etc) and wonder where the author (Henry the Mountain Man) obtained them. |
