Owl’s Head

Gudrun and I started up the trail on what looks like is going to be a very beautiful day to be in the mountains. The first part of the hike was pretty easy going. We got to the Owls Head trail at 9:30. The climb started pretty much from there. With about 200 meters to go to the summit, there was some real hand over hand stuff. Gudrun did real well to get to the summit
10:35 am
We arrived at the summit along with waaay too many black flies. The problem with spring hiking is the amount of black flies that just kind of hang around looking for a nice spot to grab some blood. We were smelling like a bottle of deet, but that doesn’t seem to discourage all of them!
The summit is indeed beautiful, great views. We would have loved to stay longer but the bust one out and after a snack, a trip up the tower and some time taking in the views we need to leave around 11:25am
We arrived back at the parking at 12:40 pm. This is a very nice hike and a great summit for wonderful views.
