Ascent Trip ReportAccess notes: Turnoff for FR 4S06 is right before the Vista Grande fire station when coming from the north on Hwy 243. It is very easy to miss because it is not marked. The sign with the road number is set back a ways. The road looks rough immediately off the paved highway, but it is mostly gravel, soft dirt and sand past that point. Stay left at the first junction and continue on 4S06 past a large clearing. Take the right fork at the second junction. Can drive all the way to the top even in passenger cars. There are relatively new radio antennas installed on the broad summit.
Hiking notes: This is really a drive-up. The only walking part is from the car up the steps to the foundation of an old fire lookout. The views are surprisingly good to W, N, E.
