Ascent Trip ReportHiked up Glen Boulder in swirling clouds and occasional sunshine. Idecided as long as I could see 2 cairns in front and in back of me I was fine. At Davis Path I hiked down to Isolation, at one time turning my GPS on only to realize I was 800 feet higher than my target. I reached the peak at about noon, an hour later than I anticipated, spend about 15 minutes then came back down to Davis path. I did not want to reclimb the trail to Glen Boulder especially since the weather report indicated t-storms for Jackson NH from 1 to 2 pm. I took Isolation East to Rocky Branch, all below tree line and in the trees all the way. The t-storms never appeared but not reclimbing Davis to the Glen Boulder intersection was a great idea. I arrived at the parking lot and thumbed a ride back to my car just as the rain started. A cold Rebel IPA tasted very good. I did see a lot of frogs/toads and one spruce grouse was on the spring trail off Glen Boulder. |
