Ascent Trip ReportI took the usual route up a well-maintained trail from the Golfcrest Dr trailhead, after making a needed pit stop at some of the nicest bathrooms I've seen at a trailhead. There were dozens of folks taking this trail to the summit on this weekday afternoon, in a wide variety of physical condition, from trim runners to heavy folk apparently trying to control their weight. This made the trail to the top quite obvious. Once there, my plan was to bag a peaklet or two to the north. I could see a dirt road that would have made it a relatively easy hike, but the way back appeared to be a backtrack over Cowles, and the bumps appeared non-descript and brushy, so I decided not to hike down to any of them--the scourge of tic-borne Lyme Disease is changing my habits. IAC, plenty of good views were had on this mountain--the ocean, Mexico, and San Diego . There were even a few half filled trash barrels on top, probably for those who opt to buy water or soda from the vending machines at the trailhead.
