Ascent Trip Report8 of us left from Newfound gap. The trail head is not clearly marked, but not hard to find. Our group was constantly falling apart and coming back together until about 3 miles from the summit, where we all broke up. The first of us reached the top then caught a ride to the bottom to bring the car back up for the rest of us (thanks Tim!). My wife, myself, and my brother-in-law finished in about 3 hours total. My wife and I took a few pictures at the top of the tower and came back down and waited for the rest of the group. They showed up about 15 minutes later. We broke a few shoes along the trip. Met up with some rain and mud, but all in all had a pretty nice hike.
The trail was great in most parts, the steps were murder on the quads. The rain caused a few of the logs and rocks to be slippery. A few places looked freshly whacked. The view at the top was amazing! I have read a few reports about clouds so I was pumped to get there on a clear day.
