Ascent Trip Report

Hiked from the Dawn Falls trail to the East Summit of Mt. Tam via the direct route. We ran into some locals who referred to the trail we took as "the shortcut," and suggested we reconsider due to wash-outs. The trail did not disappoint. The route appears to follow the old phone line pipes. In many areas, the pipes were bare to the surface, with significant erosion around them. Fun little jaunt. 8.47 miles round trip, 2400 ft of gain, 5 hours round trip. With Jan Stupl.
