Ascent Trip ReportA moderately steep dirt road climb ..... 4km, 1h15 hour RT
After visiting Mont Sainte-Anne we left the village of Perce at the Tourist Information Office, and drove west on #132 for 2km to Chemin Mont Blanc on the left (just over the crest of the road), large sign "Vehicule 4x4 Seulement". We parked to one side of the corner, th1s was my TH. The HP is to the southwest.
I climbed the dirt road (moderately steep), 2km to the summit .... the road starts out southwest then bends/loops left reaching the summit at its south side.
The summit is home to Communication Towers, large Dish and service buildings, my GPS at the HP read 48.52714,-64.24339. Views are to the west and north, the summit of Mont Sainte-Anne and unfortunately Perce Rock are hidden by the heavy foliage.
After this summit we drove to Gaspe and found a campsite at Camping Fort Ramsay, right on the coast, then called the Directeur of Parc National de la Gaspesie requesting a special favor/permit for Mont Logan for the 28th or 29th. He sounded very friendly/helpful, I'm to get back to him tomorrow .... got my fingers crossed. Lets hope for good weather, still have 2 "must-do" hikes to be done prior to Mont Logan. If I succeed with these 3 hikes I will have completed all of Quebec's COHPs south of the Fleuve.
"IT GETS LATE EARLY OUT THERE." ....... berraism
