Ascent Trip Report

Decided to hike Monadnock via one of my favorite trails on the mountain, the Dublin Trail.

The trail started out easy, dipping down a bit before joining an old woods road. It soon veered left off the road and gradually got steeper; the steep part eventually ended in a series of scrambles. From here to the junction with the Marlboro Trail, the trail was half in the trees, half out in the open, with excellent views from ledge outcrops. The trail then flattened and I reached the junction (Jim's Junction) with the Marlboro Trail; I turned left and followed the two trails (which coincided from here onward) to the top.

The summit had about 10-20 people on top, but it definitely was not swamped with people. On the way up, I only saw two others, but on the way down, I saw more people, so I must have beat the crowds with my early start.
