Ascent Trip ReportPeak 5 - From Mojstrana we drove through the Vrata Valley to Aljazev Dom (950m) where we parked the car. From there we took the Tominskov-route to Triglavski Dom. We originally wanted to take the Prag route but were advised against it as some parts were still deep in unstable snow and quite dangerous. The Tominskov route may be more exposed in some places compared to the Prag route but it was well protected with sections of via-ferrata. We crossed the snow fields to the Triglavski Dom (2500m) had a quick lunch of soup and bread before heading for the summit. There was an almost vertical snow slope to tackle at the beginning but after that conditions improved and well protected with cables. We finally reached the summit in the early afternoon. The small hut at the top was half buried in snow which rose even higher just beyond the hut. The views were perfect.
We had dinner and spent the night at the Triglavski Dom and began the rather tedious descent at 5am the following morning. It was a bit of a race to get back to Zargreb for our 5pm flight home but we really did end the week on a high.
