Ascent Trip Reportgot a late start - 12:30. turned out to only be a 3hr hike anyway. Overcast and humid but pleasant temp. well-maintained trail, yellow blazes. leaves just beginning to turn. summit is an open clearing with a monstrous cairn and the cement reinforcements that once supported the firetower. otherwise surrounded by evergreens; no view even if the conditions weren't near-whiteout. ran into a few groups on the way down, but saw no one else all day. having started late, i had the summit to myself. |
