Ascent of Camiaca Peak on 2014-06-09
|Date:||Monday, June 9, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||11739 ft / 3578 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFrom Virginia Lakes TH, I followed the trail over the pass and down to the east shore of Summit Lake. The snow of the north side of the pass covered the trail in places and was in pretty bad condition...quite a bit of exhausting post-holing. From the lake, I headed up NW to the low saddle between Epidote and Camiaca Peaks. I climbed Epidote as a bonus peak, then followed the ridge west to the summit of Camiaca Peak. All class 2 as long as I went around the steeper snow fields. I dropped back down to the first saddle just east of the summit, and then down a scree slope to the trail on the north side of Summit Lake, and then back to the trailhead.
