Ascent Trip ReportI came in from Aberdeen. Turn right at Clearwater Rd, zero odometer. 13.6 - turn right on C-3000. Paved. 17.6 - stay straight on C-3000. 20.9 - stay straight on C-3000. Gravel. 23.1 - turn left to stay on C-3000. 23.6 - pass trailhead for Yahoo Lake. Road maintenance gets worse. 26.4 - boulders partially block road. Sign says "Road Closed September 1 to May 1". Squeeze through. 27.3 - turn right. 27.7 - turn right. Brush crowding in. One deep water bar. 28.4 - End of road. Way trail on the right. My Subaru made it.
Way trail is rough but it had flagging and some blue diamond blazes. Scramble route goes up the east side. There are some nice ropes in place to help. Helicopter platform on top with excellent views from the ocean to Olympus. The Queets wanders by below.
On the way out, I used the C-2000 road to connect to the Clearwater road to the north. |
