Ascent Trip ReportDrive up. Great historic 1938 Forest Service Lookout tower on top. Tower is staffed during the fire season and open from 8a-6p daily. Great views from the Lookout. High point is next to a weather station about 20 yards from the Lookout, along with the Benchmark " Babbitt".
Note: There used to be a trail approach from the west side that has been overgrown due to the 1996 fire revegetation efforts and never reconstructed. It appears that an alternate hiker approach would be possible from the east side, but I haven't tried it yet.
Depending on the desired distance and vertical gain, there are several parking options along the Babbitt Road where one could park and hike up the road to the lookout.
