Ascent Trip Report

This was my first of three peaks for the day. I had been looking forward to this hike for awhile; having my permit for over a month. This was a hike to verify/measure the training that had been accomplished to date. The plan was to ascend to this peak under 6 hours with a 25lb pack. I carried up 2.5 liters of water; counting on the current water source at south fork springs. I started up the Forsee Creek Trail at 6am. The trail, views, and shade were awesome (the entire trip). I made sure South Fork Springs was still flowing (albeit a trickle) before pressing on.

I took the right fork after the springs to the divide trail. I reached the San Bernardino Peak Divide Trail in 4.5 hours. I reached San Bernardino East Peak at about 5.5 hours (lunch included). The views were incredible. As you traverse the divide trail, it is tempting to then head straight for the summit. Just stay on the trail as it winds back around just very close to the summit. I signed the register; it appears someone poured water into the zip-lock bag. I let the contents dry for about 15 minutes and replaced the bag. The next stop was San Bernardino Peak before returning to San Bernardino East Peak on way to Anderson Peak. Note: I don't count a peak twice in the same day (without returning to a car/trailhead) even though I had to return to this peak to & from other peaks.
