Ascent Trip ReportStarted off from sandfell car park at 4am. Conditions weren't great but the snow remained fairly firm all the way up. The guide was extremely knowledgable and knew where the crevasses were hidden - I highly recommend a guide on this mountain as the conditions can deteriorate very quickly. We covered the 12km and 2000m of ascent to the summit in 8 hours. The decent was made slower due to the softening snow and post holing for most of the way down. A long and tiring day but made perfect by the company and the shear beauty of Iceland. |
