Ascent Trip Report1 of 3 of the day for this out & back. Temps were in the high 30s but the wind was blustery all day. Trail conditions at lower elevation (up ~2500) was mostly free of snow with a few patches of ice here and there. Snow accumulation increased dramatically with every 100 feet of elevation or so, with probably 6-8 inches past the Terrace Mtn junction. Fortunately I started early so the snow was icy and not an issue without snowshoes. Had a few flurries on and off throughout the day; the sun would occasionally poke out for a minute but it was primarily overcast and moody.
The trail to the Terrace Mtn junction was well sloped and not too bad overall. A few precarious pitches from this junction to Wittenberg, especially with the ice, but not too much of a hassle with microspikes. Reached the summit in good time and enjoyed the contrast from the moody skies.
