Ascent Trip Report

The Plan: trip was to hike to and camp at Comanche Lake on day 1 (5 miles). On day 2 we would hike to Comanche Peak, Spring Mountain, and Venable Peak, then down to Venable Lake to camp for night 2 (5 miles). On day 3 we hike back out to the TH along Venable trail (5 miles). (NOTE: these distances were not GPSed are are only a guess.)
Actual: The other two people we brought were wildly unprepared for the hike in every sense. We started late having to stop on the way to pick up extra equipment and other supplies for them. During the hike they needed many breaks regardless of their slow pace. I cant remember how long it took us that first day but we didnt get to camp until well after dark. The next morning they were too tired or sore to keep going, so two of us packed super light packs and decided to spend the day summiting, enjoying views and rolling rocks down the mountain. We took a long nap on one of the more open faces; it was cool with a cool breeze but the warm sun made it perfect; this was a great day. After that we headed back to night 1 camp spot at Comanche Lake. The morning of day 3 was overcast and much cooler, and about an hour into the trip down it started snowing. Again I dont remember how long it took us to get down the mountain but our two friends were really moving, almost running to get back to the car. Overall it was an emjoyable trip and I would love to do it again. The water at the lakes are the clearest Ive ever seen and the views are just as spectacular.
