Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the gas station off NH 120 in Hanover and followed the white blazes to the beginning of a forested area, where I picked up the Velvet Rocks Trail, marked by a sign.
The trail was mostly easy, with a few short steep parts. The woods were nice and shady, although snow kept blowing off the trees, which was a pain when it landed on me. Anyway, at 0.7 mile, I turned left onto the shelter spur path, which went 0.2 mile to the Velvet Rocks Shelter; it was covered in graffiti and knife carvings. Not satisfied yet, I headed further up the trail until it began to descend; at that point was a high point with a view down the ridgeline. I got photo proof, went back to the shelter for a water break, then headed down.
