Ascent Trip ReportI used Dennis Poulin's report. Driving directions were right on. I parked before the final saddle as well, because of spotty snow on the road. Adam Helman's report adds that at this trailhead there is another junction not reported by Dennis and this is true. Take the one on the left (more south) and this will take you to the final saddle and ridge line where one can ascend west to the summit. There is one other junction on the short road walk and it doesn't matter which you take. I did one up the other down and both are fine.
The hike was a little more exciting for me as I was racing against a storm. Just like Blue Dick that morning, the climb began in somewhat clear calm conditions, and then during the climb the temp dropped precipitously, with strong gusts, some flurries, very brief corn snow, and intermittent white out conditions. I hurried up and down with fears of getting snowed in on the long drive in. Luckily no snow really stuck, and the few snow patches from Decembers storm were easily driven across.
