Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the Rattlesnake Creek trailhead about 0.4 miles south of the Brian Head Peak road on highway 143. That was the closest spot to park due to the snow.
I put on my snowshoes and followed a well packed snow mobile track to Brian Head Peak road. I followed the summer road until it crosses a small gulley and then turned north to access the south-west ridge. Once on the ridge I removed my snowshoes. The ridge was rocky and exposed due to wind. I followed the ridge all the way to the summit. It was very straight forward, steep in places, but didn't require any scrambling or exposure.
On the descent I dropped off the south ridge and snowshoed down the south east facing slopes. The snow was ~15" deep with deeper pockets of snow deposited by wind. This is a fun little hike... not too strenuous but great views. The wind on the ridge and summer were pretty strong and COLD.
