Ascent Trip Report

This is another one of the many Texas County highpoints located on private property. The only easy access is from the west on a paved lane which was gated and padlocked when I was there. Amazingly for Texas, however, there were no posted signs, so my wife, Geri, and I parked our car as far off the main road as we could, hopped the gate and hurried to the summit, which was only .15 miles away. Near the top there is a trailer home in fairly good condition, so it does not appear abandoned and there were no "For Sale" signs. This property is probably a country retreat for some city dweller. Anyway, the highest point is located directly north of the trailer home about 150 feet. There is a faint trail leading to this spot with no views due to the trees, however, on the descent you can grab a narrow view to the west before for reach the main road again. My wife and I had no problems with anyone questioning us, but we were there a very short time. Good luck if someone is home. I hope they are friendly.
