Ascent Trip Report

Yup I had to turn back from (say) 45 minutes from the peak... but what a hike up to that point!

Parked on the S2 and after a short, flat walk, went scrambling up every rock and boulder in the wash. They were mostly little bursts of 3 - 5 feet, to a couple of larger dry waterfalls around 12 - 15 feet (roughly a class 2, maybe a class 3 on some). I veered off the GPS track and kept going up another dry creek wash because I just having a lot of fun! A bit more scrambling and made it to the saddle. Went the wrong way because the scenery was spectacular and there was more scrambling in that direction. Finally turned toward the peak and after another hour or so, ran out of time and steam in the 5th hour. Stopped for a bite and went nearly straight down from there. Back to my car in 2 hours.

A truly awesome hike. It's way too much fun scrambling around on the way up, I might never make it to the peak!
