Ascent Trip ReportThank you CEO for having Election Day as a holiday. (I voted when I got back to Schenectady.)
I left late in the day and didn't get to the trailhead until after 1PM. It was a quick, easy hike up to the firetower. It was a pretty clear day with just a few higher clouds, so the view was really nice. Being fall, the sun was low in the sky the whole time I was out.
The trail was rather wet with natural runoff / springs / partial stream water. Towards the top of the mountain the trail had patches of ice here and there, but nothing that would warrant YakTrax or anything.
Sammy did really well on the hike. He only would pull me after chipmunks. It was crazy - there were so many chipmunks! They yelled at us almost the entire way up and back down the mountain. Sammy did nearly pull me over a couple times as he yanked me and I landed on a patch of ice.
